A Sweet Deal!

James T. , Fourth Grade

Extra!  Extra!  Read all about it!

A local dentist is trading candy for cash! A dentist in Middletown says “After Halloween, a lot of kids get cavities and it is not good.”  So, he asked kids if they want to trade their candy for cash.  At first the kids said "No," but the rate of “yeses” steadily grew.  Eventually 20,000 dentists were doing it!

Here at UGL, every Halloween, students bring in little bags of candy.  Our Student Council packs it all up into big boxes.  What do we do with all the candy?  We donate the candy to the Navy and it's sent overseas to servicemen and servicewomen on ships.  It's our way of saying "Thank You" for their help.

Both of these ideas are great ways to put all that Halloween candy to good use.
